Power Snack Ideas for the Whole Family and Recipe for Banana Sushi!

Happy Tuesday! I hope everyone had a great weekend. Son Number 4 had double-header baseball games in Foxborough Mass and I would be lying if I did not mention how disappointed I was to not bump into The GRONK (Rob Gronkowski) at Dunkin Donuts! Oh well, we have another set of games down there this coming weekend and maybe he will be around. A girl can dream right!!

Last week I blogged about the importance of powering up your snack with the correct balance of protein, carbs and fat and today I would like to share some snacks that fit the formula.

Carbohydrate + Protein/Healthy Fat = POWER SNACK

Humus or guacamole and cut up veggies or whole-wheat crackers

Greek Yogurt with berries and slivered almonds

Celery sticks with peanut/almond butter

Celery sticks with laughing cow cheese

Cheese stick and fruit

All natural beef jerky (check ingredient label)

Cottage cheese and fruit or cut up veggies

Rise Bars, Kind Bars, Luna Protein Bars, Detour Smart Bars (No artificial ingredients, ( aim for a bar with more than 6 grams protein and more protein than sugar)

Deli Wraps: Sliced turkey wrapped around a cheese stick, cucumber spear or dill pickle

Lettuce wraps: tuna/chicken/ humus and veggies (romaine works great)

Roasted Chick Peas

Frozen grapes and cottage cheese

Cottage Cheese filled Avocado Half (super yummy)

Apple/banana and peanut butter (squeeze packets are portable)

Hard-boiled egg and fruit

Triscuits and black bean dip

100 calorie almond packet and fruit

Banana Sushi Recipe

whole-wheat tortilla

1 tablespoon of all natural peanut/almond/sunflower butter

1 banana

Honey, cinnamon (optional)

Spread a thin layer of nut butter across entire tortilla. Sprinkle cinnamon and spread tiny amount of honey over nut butter. Place whole banana in middle of tortilla. Tightly roll up tortilla around banana. Leave seam-side down on plate

Chill and slice into 8 pieces

Give some of these a try and watch your energy go thru the roof.

We start one on one dog training this Friday. Pray for us! Perhaps I should say – pray for the trainer…

Have a great day! Noreen
